Happy Easter to everyone, for those who celebrate and enjoy the holiday. I for one have to admit my interest is purely for the LOVE of chocolate and I anxiously wait to eat my egg, its the good old Kinder. I currently don’t have much to share in terms of my art, un-fortunetly its been kinda stationary. But on the other hand, I have a couple of games on the list which I want to buy which include:
The Tiny Bang Story
Fate of the World
Portal 2
Portal 2 is the game I’m looking forward to most because I played the game at Nathan’s house and I absolutely loved it! We both beat the game and loved every bit of it. Thus I’ll be making a post on it hopefully pretty soon! Until then, enjoy your eggs!
I’ve just made a pair of Spelunky shoes! I made them for my boyfriend, as he was making some pretty shoes for me too (here’s the link to his blog). For those of you who don’t know, Spelunky is a game me and my boyfriend played a lot in the beginning of our relationship, so its pretty dear to us. If you’d like to know more about it, you can have a look at the Spelunky blog post I made about it a while back.

I enjoyed making these shoes quite a bit and I’m also making another pair for my boyfriend’s brother with a science theme. I had never thought about painting a pair of tennis shoes, but it was a pretty simple and nice idea to do! And you know what? I’m even considering taking commissions! I’m thinking about making some other shoes with other games I like, such as Plants versus Zombies which me and my boyfriend like. So what do you think, should I go for it?
So I went to the countryside, to what I thought was going to be for a couple of days, but then I recieve the dreadful news that its for more than a week! Ok, what did I have with me, a netbook. With the netbook I thought to myself, I can play platypus (trial), spelunky and minecraft – the low resolution games I knew. But much to my discontent, spelunky would only run without anything open (and I would get saturated), platypus didn’t run, and minecraft lagged like hell! But luckily my dearest boyfriend saved me and gave me Plants vs Zombies! Plants vs Zombies is an adorable game by Pop Cap, due to of course its art concept and easy gameplay. Lets face it, zombies looking like these don’t really look that creepy or threatening… Though they can be quite a pain when they come in hordes and in various kinds of “mutations”. Let’s take a look at them:
The first one is the simple kind, slow and easy to kill with a few hits. The next one, comes with a cone on its head, just a bit harder. But then it becomes difficult, with some having metal buckets on the head, some which come flying in with balloons until we reach zombies such as the footballer. He, unlike the others, is faster and has a tougher “shield”. But with the right combination of plants he can also be taken down pretty well. I had seen the game previously before I traveled and was considering buying it after I had seen my boyfriend play it. When I saw Plants vs Zombies on Steam, an adorable video comes up introducing the game! Have a look:
With this video, it was just irresistible! If you’d like to get a hold of this song you can download it from the Pop Cap site in both the English and Japanese versions. And of course they have franchise for this game too! Some of them are great, others not so much, but have a look at this adorable little sculpture of one of the plants:
At the moment, I found Tradeage selling a couple of these sculptures (not the one in the picture, but also pretty nice) and I have no doubt that there are other places you can also find them. If you’d like to try the game for free, check out this link for the web version, which I have tried out myself. If you’d like to download and buy the game, you can go to this link. Well then, have a nice day and enjoy yet another great game!
The first and very much enjoyed sandbox/open world game I came across! I started playing it during the time I was still fiddling with Restaurant city, but this game was so good that it made me quit Restaurant city (a couple of reasons, stated on its post) and probably any other game of its genre! It’s a pretty recent game and totally worth getting into! Why? Let’s have a look:
Pretty cool trailer huh? The term open world pretty much says it all, I like games which allow me to be creative and set my own goals such as this one. I began to play this game using my boyfriends login, and I got so involved that he gave me my own copy and we realized the potential it had together with other players. The result, is a huge castle being made by me, him and his friend. But unlike the creative mode which is also available, we built our castle on survival mode, shielding and protecting ourselves from the enemies we encountered during the build process. Sure we may have a few less pretty blocks, but the challenge becomes more fun, as Markus Persson (the creator) said so himself!
Have a full set of diamond armor and weaponry (every Minecrafter’s wish)
And of course I also intend on helping my boyfriend make a cathedral, and maybe help his brat friend make a skull (he’s pushed me off cliffs you see… had to chase him with a lava bucket…). But hopefully we’ll be able to post our castle soon, it’s looking pretty cool.
Thanks to geekosystem we can take a look at a couple of awesome creations made in Minecraft, in their 21 Amazing Minecraft Creations post. Just as a sample, I leave you with one of my favorites:
Now for those of you who have already had a taste of the game, most will probably know the good old handy crafting page to look to for your crafting needs. Recently they added dyed wool for the beta version, for decorative purposes, the only problem I find is that currently it’s a bit hard to find the materials for them, but hopefully it will become more frequent later? We’ll be hoping notch keeps us up to date on things on twitter. Along with that, note blocks were also added, which I intend on exploring avidly in my theater! After all, it beats the jukebox, as the records are way to hard to get… The bed is also something new, which allows you to skip to daytime! Oh, and guess what? Notch/Markus is going to add a dog for us to have as a pet! Isn’t that great? I can’t wait!
If you’d like to try out some different skins for your minecrafter, you can check them out in Minecraft skins, they have quite a varied amount. I’ve gotten mine already!
I present another great game I was introduced to by my brother. It appears he stumbled across it while searching for free shooter games, once he played it, he loved it, as have I.
One of the things we both agree and appreciate is its interesting concept of being made entirely with modelling clay, that’s right, modelling clay. Even the smoke, background and all the weapons! ”A genius idea” according to my brother, by a guy called Anthony Flack. Another thing I also enjoyed a lot was its music during the game, it was very catchy and very often made me bop around my chair – consequently distracting me and making the game harder to win hehehe.
Here is a trailer I found of the game, demonstrating its gameplay, have a look:
So I thought to myself, why not share the great music behind this game? Therefore I gathered some links for you guys, to videos on youtube from platypus! Special thanks to Blossom48RSA for providing us with the music from the game.
Agreeing to Mr. Kollega on his review from the great escapistmagazine site, it is a very very hard game. So much so that I had to switch to easy mode if I were ever to see the other levels the game had. Yes, it is a cheat, but by the time you die as many times as I have and want to see whats next, its pretty much the only option. It does become very clustered, as he has stated, but arguably not as much as a touhou game for example.
At the time I first played it, I only managed to find and play the 60 minutes trial of the game at the miniclip games site which today seems to be unavailable. But I found an alternative site which provides the link to download it. With the time limit and difficulty, I obviously could not finish it back then. But recently I found Platypus on the shelf on a store and happily bought it to remember the good times, managing to complete the game and write this post!
Currently Anthony Flack is working on another game called Cletus Clay which also looks pretty cool, if you’d like to be updated on that, check out the game’s site. Along with that, I encourage you to have a look at his site too, which I’ll be adding to my links section.
Well then, I hope you enjoyed the music and the tip, have a look at yet another game that can’t be missed, I recommend it.
To continue the Birfian project, I have made my first proper character designs! The first one is Ari Calanthe. She’s one of the characters from the book which I wrote, and I intend to model sometime in the future. She is a kind of mentor of the main character called Senai, who will help her throughout the story.
The next one, is Misteen Asherah. A warrior bounty hunter who was sent on behalf of Ari’s request to protect Senai. Hopefully I can draw the next couple of characters to post them up soon!
I believe I forgot to post my newest portfolio template! Oh my… I posted it on facebook a while ago, but forgot about all other places, but here I am presenting it:
For those who haven’t seen, or don’t remember, my previous one looked like this. I maintained my signature lines, but made it a bit more dark, without the paper texture. I wanted it to be less eye catching, after all, it’s about the work which I show and not the template itself. Along with this one, I also made other templates for single works and three works:
