Hi guys!
I’d like to introduce (for those who don’t already know it), Spelunky! This is quite a nifty game my boyfriend showed me back in the days when we first met each other, which I’ve been playing quite a bit, and I thought, hey why not post it in my blog? So, here it is!
Spelunky is an action adventure game centered around the exploration of a series of caves while collecting treasure, saving damsels in distressand dodging traps.
That is the basic summary of the game. But it’s just so much more than that! It’s fun and addicting and has that old 8 bit look to it. At first glance I didn’t think much of it until I actually saw my boyfriend having a hard time and playing it myself. If you’d like to try it out, you can download it for free at the Spelunky site. It was developed by a guy called Derek Yu and apparently it only works on a Windows platform (a shame for the Mac users).
Your default controls are the typical left, right, up, down buttons along with z to jump, x to fire, and c to switch between the things you are carrying. I have a tendency to use the shift key to speed up my run through each level, but it does get me into trouble and makes me fall on certain traps! Here is a preview of the first level in the game:
At the moment I still haven’t managed to pass level 5 yet, and I think it’s going to take me a while to win this game. But hey, I’m not in a hurry to win, I’m just going to enjoy it. Hope you’ll like it too!
